So, with the new Fall TV season in full swing, I have decided to try something new with posting what I've watched, that way there aren't a RIDICULOUS number of individual TV show posts from me; I am going to post weekly TV viewing entries to the site, which will cover everything I watched (primetime shows only) for that specific week. I'm thinking that this will work well for me and you both, so the week will cover Sunday through Saturday, but it will not include movies, those will still get their own postings.
Here goes!
Revenge - ABC Sundays @ 8pm
This damn show is my SUPER guilty pleasure. Obviously from the list of shows here, you can tell I have several guilty pleasures, but this one is my baby. I love it SO much. It's so good and dramatic and campy and over-the-top, but in a good way, that I just can't get enough.
I actually watch this show LIVE on Sunday nights. Now, I don't watch ANY shows live unless I have too many shows on at once and I can't record them all or their reality programs, where I don't want to find out who made it through/won/got voted off the next day before I've had a chance to watch it, but I watch the shit out of this show on Sunday nights and I'm always sad when it's over. It's not the best show to watch to help you relax before bed, but I don't care; it's that awesome!
Madeleine Stowe is AMAZING as Victoria Grayson. She's the perfect combination of uppity Hamptons royalty and conniving bitch. You never know what she's up to and that makes for good television. Gabriel Mann (Nolan) is hilarious and campy and I love him! Nolan's interaction and relationship with Emily is hilarious and makes this show more than just a drama; I would say it's more of a dramatic comedy.
The new season has brought in two new characters that we just aren't sure of yet. Both are from Emily's past, but from very different eras. I can't wait to see where this new season leads, especially since the focus seems to have shifted from getting revenge for her father to finding her thought-to-be dead mother.
666 Park Avenue - ABC Sundays @ 9pm
You can see my initial review for the show here.
This really is the perfect companion to Revenge on Sunday nights. It's getting deeper and darker and a little creepier and I'm loving every second of it!
How I Met Your Mother - CBS Mondays @ 7pm
You can see my initial review of the show here.
Partners - CBS Mondays @ 7:30pm
Well, folks, we've got the first casualty of the new fall season. I have given up on this show. As much as I love Michael Urie and Sophia Bush, it's just not working. Maybe it's because it's on CBS. Maybe it's because they use a laugh track. Or maybe it's just because it's not that funny or creative.
It's all forced, easy to guess jokes that are kind of insulting to the viewer because the creators/writers think we are SO easily amused by the inane jokes and situations. Which, again, maybe it's because it's on CBS, home of Two and a Half Men and every single crime show on television. Whatever the reason, this show has officially been cut from my fall viewing schedule.
The Voice - NBC Mondays/Tuesdays @ 7pm
Can't get enough of this show! It's definitely my favorite reality show behind Project Runway, which will always be near and dear to my heart.
You can see my initial review of the show here.
90210 - The CW Mondays @ 7pm
Yes, I still watch this show. Yes, I'm ashamed that I still watch this show. Why do I still watch this show? I have NO idea. Maybe it's on the off-chance that it will end with everything being killed a la Marissa Cooper. One can only dream, right?
This season continues on with the whole "I may have breast cancer, but I want a baby first" scenario, which I just can't seem to wrap my head around. But never fear! You shall get your baby and will be with the help of your gay best friend! Yep. That ol' so-and-so.
Honestly though, let's end this trainwreck with an actual trainwreck. Please?
2 Broke Girls - CBS Mondays @ 8pm
This is probably the one exception to the CBS rule and it's most likely because Kat Dennings is ridiculously sarcastic and bitter and I love it.
You can see my initial review for the show here.
The Mob Doctor - FOX Mondays @ 8pm
I'm still really liking this show, so I'm pretty sure that means FOX will cancel it soon or it won't make it past mid-season, but here's to hoping!
You can see my initial review of the show here.
Revolution - NBC Mondays @ 9pm
I'm still holding on with this damn show! I just want to know why the lights went out, that's all. Can't you just tell me so I can let this show go?!
You can see my initial review of the show here.
Hart of Dixie - The CW Tuesdays @ 7pm
I love Rachel Bilson. I love this show. It's adorable. It's pleasant. It's everything 90210 is not. I like the characters, the storylines, the romance/relationships, just everything!
The new season picked up the day after the season finale and we would hopefully find out who Zoe chose, Wade (sexy, sexy man) or George (eh). You can guess who I was rooting for, but I also didn't really want her to pick so soon because the idea of and the actual chase is so much better! It makes for great television. For some reason, I prefer when the guy(s) are after the girl and she is resistant for some time, rather than the girl(s) after the guy. Maybe it's because when most TV writers, write the girl(s) after the guy storyline, the girl becomes absolutely annoying and pathetic.
Anyway, I was very pleased with how they decided to end the season premiere and I think it will lead to good things this season and hopefully The CW picks it up for the full season. Seriously though, if you're not watching it, you should be because it's just a lovely little program.
New Girl - FOX Tuesdays @ 8pm
I will forever love this show and everyone on it! Schmidt as "Tug Romney" was probably one of the greatest things ever!
You can see my initial review of the show here.
The Mindy Project - FOX Tuesdays @ 8:30pm
LOVING this show and last week was no exception! Hot, sexy NBA players were on including my main arms man, Amar'e Stoudemire!! If the show keeps going this way, it may just make it one of my faves!
You can see my initial review of the show here.
Parenthood - NBC Tuesdays @ 9pm
I am an emotional wreck after every single episode of this show and I just can't get enough!
You can see my initial review of the show here.
Arrow - The CW Wednesdays @ 7pm
Only one episode in, so we'll see what happens after the next episode.
You can see my initial review of the show here.
Supernatural - The CW Wednesdays @ 8pm
I love this show. I love Jensen Ackles. It may be in it's 8th season, but I never get tired of this show! It's dramatic, sometimes frightening, endearing, and funny. It's got everything you could ever want in a show, unless you're looking for romance, but how much romance could you have with a demon from hell? No really, I'm asking for a friend...
The premiere was all dark and disturbing and so Supernatural. I just love to watch this show just to see where it goes throughout the season and where it ends. GOOD TIMES.
Chicago Fire - NBC Wednesdays @ 9pm
Only one episode in so far and it was kinda "eh", so we'll see how it goes from here...
You can see my initial review of the show here.
Nashville - ABC Wednesdays @ 9pm
LOVED the first episode, but we'll see how it goes and if it holds up with the second one.
You can see my initial review of the show here.
Last Resort - ABC Thursdays @ 7pm
I honestly cannot make a damn decision regarding this show! I like it, but I don't. I think the main reason for my "like" is Andre Braugher and Scott Speedman. My main dislike for the show is the storytelling. I just can't seem to really connect with the characters and SO MUCH happens in each episode that I have absolutely no idea what's going on.
I think I'll give it to mid-season before I decide one way or the other. You can see my initial review of the show here.
30 Rock - NBC Thursdays @ 7pm
I am SUPER DUPER sad that this is the last season of this show! I don't know what I'm going to do without Liz Lemon and her random, but extremely handsome boyfriends, every week.
One of the main highlights so far this season is the fact that Catherine O'Hara and Bryan Cranston are playing Kenneth the Page's parents. Yep, PERFECT casting. I just can't get enough!
The Vampire Diaries - The CW Thursdays @ 7pm
I learned this past summer that my dear friend Emily also watches this show, which made me super happy because I didn't know anyone else that watches it. I don't know what it is about this show that I love so much, but I do and it's glorious!
Now, I'm not a huge fan of the "main" pairing on the show, Stefan/Elena, and I'm not really a fan of Elena in general, she's kinda needy and whiney, but I LOVE Caroline, Klaus, Tyler, Damon (not pining after Elena), Matt (because I feel bad for him), Elijah (super handsome), and Rebekah and her snark. I do miss Alaric, but he'll be on a new show midseason on The CW. :) Bonnie and Jeremy? Eh. Couldn't really care either way about them.
The end of last season left us with Elena possibly turning into a vampire and with Klaus in Tyler's body. Craziness ensues! The premiere pretty much covered everything that was left open in the finale and closed it up. Klaus was put back in his sexy British body, but not before he had some sexy-times in the woods with Caroline, while in Tyler's (her boyfriend) body. I gotta say, I really did love the scene when Klaus/Tyler was on the phone with Tyler's mom and she mentioned Caroline and suddenly Klaus/Tyler perked up and demanded to know what happened to Caroline; you know he actually likes her, it's kind of adorable. Elena almost died because she didn't drink blood, but then did, so she's a vampire now. Klaus broke Rebekah's neck for killing his doppelgänger aka Elena. Matt was feeling super guilty about the fact that he survived and Elena didn't, which Damon made sure to drive home (with an actual rifle to the chest) at every change he got. Bonnie was still a witch and continued to bleed from her nose when she did "hard" magic.
Basically, I just need more Caroline/Klaus/Tyler scenes, more badass Damon scenes, and little less brooding Stefan/horny vampire Elena scenes. It's just awkward, writers, come on! The next episode to be all horny Elena, making out with Stefan in the woods scenes, so we'll see how that goes, but I'm hoping for some kind of reprieve from that with some good ol' Caroline/Tyler or Caroline/Klaus scenes, especially since Klaus basically told her that he planned to win her over anyway. Here's to hoping that really does happen this season! Someone else on the show needs some love besides Stefan/Elena/Damon.
Beauty & the Beast - The CW Thursdays @ 8pm
I have a feeling this show will be the second casualty of the fall TV season, but I'll still give it the 2-episode courtesy.
You can see my initial review of the show here.
